The Public Service Commission has awarded scholarships
since 1961. The objective of PSC scholarships is to enable the
civil service to attract its fair share of talent. It is a tool
to help the civil service meet its manpower needs in key areas, as well as to develop a pipeline of public sector leaders. Over the years, we have developed a successful
track record of identifying and grooming promising young
men and women to positions of leadership in the public sector.
While our purpose remains to attract and
develop the best talents for the public service, we have
not stood still in our tracks to do so. In line with this, PSC has recently introduced three new initiatives:
- The Local Merit Scholarship (Open) - Medicine is awarded to outstanding students with a passion to pursue Medicine and a strong desire for public service;
- The Mid-Term Scholarships are awarded to top undergraduates with a strong desire to pursue a career in the civil service; and
- The Civil Service Internship Programme provides top undergraduates with the opportunity to have a first-hand experience of working in the civil service.
We have evolved
with the times, reaching out to potential candidates and
our scholars through a variety of channels, from newspapers
to the virtual world. These have helped us to keep in touch
with our scholars, and better meet the needs of our applicants
and potential scholars.
The PSC
Gateway offers a user-friendly on-line application system
while our quarterly e-zine,
Quick Brown Fox, gives you an inside
look at what's goes on at the PSC Scholarships Centre, keeping
you up to speed with the latest issues in Singapore and
the region, and offering insights from our scholars. This
year, we have also launched What is New @ Scholarships Centre
or WINS,
a portal specially developed for our scholars and Management
Associates. WINS is a one-stop shop for information on PSC
scholarship policies and development programmes, and brings
our studying and working scholars closer together even when
they're miles apart.
As a PSC scholar, you can look forward to a challenging
and fulfilling career in the Public Service.
Are you prepared to make that important contribution and
significant impact on your society?
